Getting Ready
Only 21 days!
I have just received my flight itinerary. It looks like it will take a total of 24 hours to get to Boden, Sweden. I'm leaving Reno International Airport on July, 28th at 7 in the morning. I then go up to Seattle Washington and have a four hour layover there. After that I go 5,000 miles to Frankfurt, Germany. I then take another plane to Stockholm, Sweden. I have a four hour layover there and then I take a one hour flight to Boden, Sweden. I hope very much that I'll have easy air travels.
Packing is very frustrating to me. It's hard not to want to bring my whole closet. I also have to bring summer and winter clothes. I bought this huge suitcase at TJmax, so I'm trying to get as many clothes in there as I can.
Leaving for me does not seem like a big reality. I feel that I'm prepared to leave. I have everything in line. I'm very excited for this amazing opportunity and I'm ready to see and experience a new culture. I just feel that this is such a large thing to do, I won't necessarily realize what's going on until I have fully left. I don't feel that I'm nervous or scared to leave, I feel that I'm ready to pursue a new chapter in my life.
I remember when I first wanted to do foreign exchange. I was at the beach with my mom and I saw a picture of Switzerland. I then was thinking and thought that it would be so cool to go on foreign exchange and experience a totally different culture with new people. My mom and I started to look into it further and found Rotary Youth Exchange. For all of you that don't know Rotary Youth Exchange, or RYE, it is a youth exchange program that exchanges with people all around the world. RYE really gave me this amazing opportunity to be an ambassador for the US. I first wanted to go to Switzerland but I didn't get picked to go there, so I decided on going to Sweden instead. I sometimes think that fate works that way. I feel that Sweden will be a good fit for me.
With the time almost here, that means I have to say goodbye to all my amazing friends. I think that they are more sad about it then be because they aren't the ones that are going away. I have started a college English class to earn credits for school back here when I'm gone, so I'm also working on that.
Throughout my busy schedule of going to the beach, studying, and going to the beach more, I'll try to post on this blog once before I go.
